Gordon retired at the end of February 2007, having been with Bergstan South Africa (previously Liebenberg and Stander) for 34 years. He is a registered Professional Civil Engineer and was a director of the company. His interests include fussing around doing any manner of handyman jobs.
Jean completed a Batchelor of Arts degree in Theology (and graduated cum laude). At the graduation ceremony in November, 2006 Gordon watched with pride as she was awarded not only the Principal’s Prize for the student who best epitomised the ethos of the college, but the Dean’s Award as well - for the student with the highest grades throughout their academic career.
They have two children – Bronwyn, who is married to Simon - and Neil, who is married to Claire. Bronwyn and Simon live in the UK and have a son Daniel (born 2009) and a daughter Megan (born 2011), whereas Neil and Claire live in Tableview, Cape Town and have two beautiful daughters - Kelly (born 2001) and Erin (born 2005).
Gordon and Jean are both committed Christians and are passionate about travelling in Africa and, to date, have covered 106 000 km beyond our borders in their 4x4 and spent 732 nights in it's rooftop tent.
